First we’ll collect some basic information

When you sign up for a VPS plan with Server Concierge, we gather some basic information in order to transfer your site, including:

• Domain(s) to be transferred
• Applications required
• Payment gateway used
• Database type and connection string file
• SSL certificate and authority
• URL redirects in place

Then we’ll do the heavy lifting on our end & have you review everything before going live

You may have us working with your developer to gather this information, or you may have access to it yourself. Once we have this information, our skilled technicians take it from here.

• First we create your domains on the VPS.
• Next we migrate over your files. If you have a database on shared SQL currently hosted with AppliedI, you may elect to keep it there and still get all the performance benefits of VPS.
• Then we preview everything to be sure is in place.
• At this point, we turn the site over to you, but it’s not quite ready to go live.
• We provide instructions on how to preview your site on the VPS, plus a list of things to test:
  • Check all redirects
  • Check all basic functionality
  • For ecommerce sites, successfully complete a test purchase
• If any problems are identified, we work through them systematically. This may take an hour, a day or as long as a few business days, but it’s generally very fast.
• Once you give us the thumbs-up, we make the switch on the DNS and your site goes live on VPS.

That’s it! In fact, most migrations can be completed in just one to two hours!!

It’s important to be aware of one variable that is time demanding: creating multiple domains. If you have more than 1 or 2 domains, we may need to allocate additional time to recreate them on the VPS.
